Homework for the week of 3/21/11, 3/28/11 and 4/4/11

The next two weeks of class will be spent reviewing for the CRCT.  Homework assignments will vary from class to class on a day to day basis.  Students will be participating in review games, completing CRCT based problems and learning successful test taking tips.  Review EVERY night by practicing odd numbered problems from any of the chapter 1-12.  Check your answers in the back of the book.  Focus on the CRCT prep boxes located in each section and CRCT practice test that are located at the end of each chapter.  Log on and complete the CRCT practice problems on the Department of Education website.

Remember to review vocabulary and read at least 20 minutes each night.  Eat a good breakfast and get extra sleep the week of the CRCT.  Come to school focused and ready to ace the test!!

Poster Project due: March 8, 2011

I will give this project out when we return from Winter Break!  Go ahead and begin on it now, be creative!!

A local company, Byrdmath Inc., has hired you as part of their creativity team.  Your task is to create a new informational math poster that will be sold to local teachers to display in their classroom.   Some of the most difficult concepts for students to master revolve around geometry and measurement.  The head of the team has given you the following categories to choose as a topic for your poster:
3-dimensional shapes * 2-dimensional shapes * volume of a rectangular prism * volume of a pyramid * volume of a cone  * volume of a cylinder * line symmetry * area of a circle * circumference of a circle * line symmetry * rotational symmetry * surface area of a prism * surface area of a cylinder *
Choose your topic and then design and create a colorful, visually appealing (neat), accurate poster.  An informative poster should include formulas, drawings, specific steps, vocabulary, mathematical examples, real world examples, etc.  Your poster must be posterboard size and ready to present to the design team on
Tuesday, March 8.

Use the rubric below to grade yourself before submitting to the team:

General appearance/neatness
